Altcoins flip risk on when these things line up First thing people get wrong is thinking alts pump just because they look cheap or oversold. That’s not how it works. They need several conditions. Here’s what actually matters: 1) Bitcoin needs to chill out Alts don’t like fast moves from BTC in EITHER direction. They want slow, boring, stable price action. A higher low on HTF and some sideways movement is usually enough. Lower volatility is good. Big candles are bad. 2) BTC dominance stops pushing up If dominance keeps climbing, it means liquidity is staying in BTC not alts. For alts to run you want dominance to stall or start rolling over a bit. 3) ETH shows some strength ETH is basically the key switch for the rest of the market. If ETH/BTC starts turning up and ETH reclaims some levels then risk appetite increases everywhere. 4) Real volume comes back Not just perps and random wicks. You want spot buyers, real demand and follow through candles. If it’s only leverage, it usually fades fast. 5) Leaders first, not random coins Real rotations start with the obvious names and strong narratives. A couple solid leaders with clean charts. If it’s only random micro caps popping for a day, it’s noise. 6) Macro needs to settle down a bit We don’t need full bullish macro for alts to work but we do need things to stop worsening. Even just moving from negative to neutral is enough to let risk assets breathe. So basically you want: • BTC stable • BTC.d drifting down • ETH showing relative strength • Volume returning • A real narrative leading • Macro not hostile When all that lines up, that’s when alts usually go from “dead” to “working again” and most people only notice late.
