one thing that most blockchains need to inculcate in their orgs and culture overall is that they are largely similar to a vc firm - you need to actively seek the talent and bring them to your chain, and for that a certain set of skills are required (deep knowhow for eg of defi)

- you can't afford to play favourites just for the vibes, original because you had a great time w someone in some crypto events - since most chains don't have to put aggressive money like vc as that's not their mandate sometimes teams take some projects or builders lightly

- that results in your chain having some of the best vibers, yappers, and contemporary stewards of coolness, but then they end up building ust/terra/ or just another thing for "numba go up." - what you need is 20% solid builder (substance) and 80% vibers (hype)

- but its extremely hard to say whether you got that 20% or not, so the main work should be to be paranoid and keep focusing on getting that 20%, and the rest 80% is byproduct and will come with little efforts - why? there's a saying in vc that applies for chains too

- good founders or builders always remember vcs who came across rude, or didn't even bother to take the call or didn't give a proper chance - same goes for chains, instill goodwill for your chain specially into the people who have depth, than the ones who knows all hype terms

- finally, why am i saying all this? i have been observing a lot of great projects, multi-billion dollar ones that i am not gonna deploy on chain "x" because they play favourites or - "y" chain didn't even take a call initially when we needed support and now they want us

- at the same time, i am also seeing some founder friends who would go out of their way to help a specific chain develop expertise in a special domain only because the chain heard the founder when he was building

- but how do you know which builder is the one that's gonna be successful and will have goodwill for you? there are so many - it's hard, you won't know. but if you act more like a vc, develop deeper expertise (there are only 3-4 usecases of crypto rn, so not that hard) and work

then there's a chance you start seeing early signs. there are so many inside stories where great builders were not retained or even approached by chains out of pure ignorance only to regret lager.
